Oral implantology

Oral implantology is part of the modern concept of the recovery treatment of patients with dental conditions. Dental implantation is the surgical intervention by which lost teeth are replaced with dental implants for the purpose of oral rehabilitation.

It is demonstrated by scientists that all dental implants can be fixed and adapted without difficulty in the oral cavity, being bio-compatible with the human body.
Thanks to implanto-prosthetic treatment, patients benefit from functional and aesthetic restorations, considerably improving their health.

What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is a metal (titanium) screw-shaped device that replaces the root of a missing natural tooth. And they screw into the maxillary or mandibular bone without affecting the integrity of the other teeth. Thanks to the biocompatibility of titanium, the dental implant integrates perfectly into the bone and thus becomes a stable and safe support for the future artificial tooth or for fixing a bridge, prosthesis or dental crown.
The advantages of dental implant treatment
Increases the quality of social life, increases confidence in one's own person, through the psychological comfort offered;
They allow the recovery of lost teeth while preserving the health of the teeth adjacent to the edentation;
Improves mastication, phonation, physiognomy;
Long life of implants;
Provides stability to prosthetic work;
They are easy to sanitize.
How to care for the dental implant?
The dental implant is taken care of by a periodic checkup once every 6 months at the dentist and by strict hygiene: interdental brushing, oral irrigator, dental floss.
How long does a dental implant last?
Dental implants are meant to last a long time (20 years, even more), provided they are properly cared for, and the patient comes to the office for professional cleanings.

Oro-dental surgery

Dento-alveolar surgery is a specialty that allows the dentist to perform dental surgery in the dental office.

Dental surgery involves performing operations starting with tooth extraction and continuing with more complicated operations such as: apical resection (removal of dental granulomas), odontectomy (extraction of an intraosseous tooth that did not erupt normally), cystectomy (removal of dental cysts), regularization alveolar ridge, tooth remodeling through dental implants, treatment of periodontal diseases. All surgical interventions are performed under local anesthesia, allowing them to be performed without pain.

Diseases of the oro-maxillo-facial region are sometimes more difficult to detect, especially in the initial period when there are no obvious clinical signs. When they reach large sizes causing asymmetries, facial disproportions or superinfections, the diagnosis is obvious, but the treatment is much more difficult to achieve. For the early or much more precise detection of pathologies, special knowledge is needed, obtained as a result of rich experience and modern equipment.

Dental extraction
Dental extraction is a surgical intervention by which a tooth is removed from its bone support because conservative therapeutic means have been exhausted or it has determined loco-regional or general pathological processes.
Wisdom molar odontectomy
Wisdom teeth can cause inflammatory processes or the appearance of cysts, trauma to the oral cavity or contribute to the formation of malocclusions. The extraction of these teeth is indicated when patients go to the dentist with severe pain. If the doctor considers that the recovery of the tooth is not possible, then surgical intervention for extraction is a mandatory procedure.
Apical resection (hemisection/root amputation)
It is a surgical procedure that aims to completely remove the pathological periapical tissue together with a fragment of the apex of the affected tooth. The goal of apical resection is to achieve a correct canal obturation by direct or retrograde route. Total removal of the portion of the apex that could not be properly obturated by current methods together with the pathological periapical tissue.
Chistectomia
A cyst is shaped like a bag, and inside it is filled with fluid. It most often forms at the tip of the dead root of a tooth. Cysts can also form around the crowns (and roots) of impacted teeth due to infection or trauma. There are also rare situations where the cyst can be caused by a genetic condition (eg Gorlin syndrome). Many times, dental cysts are discovered after a dental X-ray, because the patients don't even know that they had such a formation in the oral cavity. This is because dental cysts are asymptomatic. They start to become problematic when they become infected, leading to pain, swelling or reddening of the gum.
Mucous cyst of the lip (mucocele)
It is a benign cystic formation located on the inner wall of the lip that is often formed due to damage (trauma) to the duct of the salivary gland by biting the lip or following an accident. It occurs more frequently in people who wear braces. If they do not disappear by themselves after an interval of up to 6 weeks, they must be excised by the surgical method in order not to generate other complications and to get rid of the discomfort generated by their presence. The treatment consists in excision of the cyst through a superficial incision under local anesthesia. After the excision, a suture is made with non-absorbable threads that are removed after 7 days.

Dental prosthetics (orthopedics)

Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with restoring and maintaining a patient’s function, comfort, appearance and health by restoring natural teeth and/or replacing missing teeth and oral and maxillofacial tissues with oral substitutes.

Some authors divide this specialty into several branches: fixed prosthetics (crowns and bridges), removable prosthetics (partial or total), maxillofacial prosthetics and prosthetics on implants.

We carry out works:

Crowns;
Removable prosthesis;
Dental bridges;
Prosthetics on implants;
When do we resort to prosthetics?
Indications for the realization of prosthetic constructions are varied and include the aesthetic irregularities of the natural teeth, the lack of teeth or the defects of the facial bones. The goal of dental prosthetics is to restore the patient's aesthetics, lost functions and favor the patient's easier integration into society.
Crowns
The role of the crown is to restore the natural shape and functioning of a damaged tooth. The covering dental crown or cap is a type of indirect restoration, which encircles and covers a natural tooth or a dental implant on the visible portion, i.e. above the gingival margin.
Types of dental crowns?
Coronary restoration is classified according to the materials used, in principle it can have the following types:
  1. Full ceramic crowns;
  2. Polymer crowns;
  3. Metal crowns — noble metals, noble metal alloys and base metal alloys;
  4. Metal-ceramic crowns — porcelain on metal support;
  5. Metal-acrylic crowns;
  6. Metal-composite crowns;
  7. Zirconia crowns.
Care of the dental crown or prostheses on implants
The most important factor in the care of dental crowns or dentures on implants is oral hygiene. A very important thing is to visit the dentist periodically to assess the health of the oral cavity.
